I HAVE REMODELED MY BATHROOM, CAN I HAVE MY SHOWER DOOR MODIFIED TO FIT THE NEW OPENING? -- Unfortunately not! The glass used in shower doors is tempered safety glass, which is required by law. One of the safety properties of tempered glass is that, should it break, it will break into many little pieces. If it was cut, it would break in this manor. You would have to purchase a new enclosure.
AT WHAT POINT DO I HAVE YOU COME OUT AND MEASURE FOR A NEW SHOWER DOOR? -- We come out to measure once your shower is 100% completed - meaning all tile work and saddles (or sills) are installed. We cannot come out earlier than this to measure. In the glass industry, we measure to the 1/16" of an inch and have to account for any out of square or plumb situation that might exist. If we do not do this, your enclosure will not fit.
I HAVE A PIECE OF GLASS AND IT NEEDS TO BE CUT DOWN (OR ALTERED), CAN THIS BE DONE? -- It depends. Generally, you have to cut more off the glass than the thickness of the glass itself. Meaning that if you have a piece of 1/4" glass, you have to cut more than 1/4" off. There are exceptions of course. Please call our office for your particular situation - 914.941.0063
DO YOU OFFER DO-IT-YOURSELF ITEMS - SUCH AS SHOWER DOORS, MIRRORS, ETC.? -- Generally, we do not! The reason being that glass and mirror can be dangerous to work with. It is a much different material than say wood. It cannot be altered to fit openings that it doesn't fit and the means of installing glass and mirror is also a much different task than other items. There are many glass and mirror items that can be fabricated for you to install yourself. It just depends on what you are looking for. If you have any questions, please call our office.
-- We are happy to give an over the phone estimate. We do however, prefer faxed estimates with a drawing. Please be sure to know all lengths, widths, metal choices - or any other information that can be helpful in determining a price. The sizes need to reflect the area where the glass or mirror will be going. For example, a 48" x 48" shower base is not enough information to price an enclosure. We need the sizes for the area where the glass will be going. Be sure to include job location as well.
